PERSONALITY

새로운것에 항상 겁없이 도전하는 편인 성격으로 다치는일이 많지만 그때마다 덤덤하게 이겨내는 강한 정신력을 가지고있다. 일단 궁금한것은 건드려서 해소해야하는편. 주인의 말을 잘 듣지는 않지만 나름 의젓한 편이어서 말썽을 자주부리지는 않는다. 평소 조용히 누워지내는것을 선호하는데 갑자기 삘이 오는 날에는 어디로 튈지 모르는 추진력을 가졌다. 먹을것을 좋아하는편이기때문에 대식가이며 가리는것없이 다 먹는다. 덕분에 살이 좀 쪄있는 편이라 주인이 식단관리해준다고 열심히 관리해주지만 결국은 자기 하고싶은대로 하는 독고다이.

창백해 보이는 피부에 피곤한 인상을 하고 있으며 아무렇게나 자란 머리가 목 뒤까지 늘어져 있다. 적색의 눈이 반 쯤보이는 표정으로 무표정한 모습이 일관되어있다.

PERSONALITY

매일매일 8평남짓한 방안에서 먹고자는것이 하루의 전부이다. 조그만한 방에서 인터넷으로 꽤나 광활한 활동을 하고있으며 주식은 컵라면, 과자 음료수 등으로 단것들만 대충 먹고 말아버린다. 머리가 좋은 편이어서 해킹프로그램이나 컴퓨터를 다루는 일에 능숙하다. 스스로의 이름을 알리고싶지 않아서 코드네임 k로 온라인상에서 활동을 하고있으며 항간에는 얼굴없는 프로그래머로 유명할정도로 능력이 좋다. 방안에는 하나하나 직접 이름을 붙여주고 소중히 해주는 인형 친구들이 많이 배치되어있다. 덕분에 어두운 방안에서 홀로 지내는 체스는 외로움을 느끼지 않는다.

어두운 방안.
의자 하나에 의지한채 쭈구려 잠들어있는 퍼피.
어딘가 불편해보이지만 평온한 표정으로 새록새록 잠에들어있다.

"일어나봐 체스!"

조용하던 어둠속에서 누군가 목소리를 내었다.
안그래도 얕은 잠을 자고있던 체스는 화들짝 놀라며 일어나선
주변을 둘러보았다.

의문의 목소리는 바로 자신의 앞에서 들리고있었다.
"Wake up Chess!"

In the quiet darkness, someone raised a voice.
Chess, who was still in a light sleep, got up in surprise and looked around.

A suspicious voice was heard right in front of him.

"나야 나. 체스! 너가 안고자는 인형!"

앞을보자 보인건 매일 잠에드는것을 책임져주는 소중한 인형이었다.
말랑이라고 이름도 붙여줬던...

조용한 방안에서 말을 붙인게 그동안 인형이라고만 생각했던
말랑이의 목소리였다니, 체스는 놀란눈을했다.
말랑이는 그런 체스의 반응에도 아랑곳하지않고 말을 이어갔다.

"잠을 왜 이렇게 불편하게 자는거야 체스! 그러다 키도 안크고
건강도 나빠질거라구" 

"It's me, it's me. Chess! The doll you're holding and sleeping!"

When he looked ahead, what he saw was a precious doll responsible for sleeping every day.
The one he named Malang (*Squishy)...

Chess was surprised to hear that it was Malang's voice, whom he had thought was only a doll, in a quiet room.
Malangi continued his words regardless of the chess reaction.

"Why are you sleeping so uncomfortable? Chess! Then you won't be tall and your health will deteriorate."


열심히 양 발의 젤리를 흔들며 말랑이는 걱정하듯 말했다.
자신의 소중한 인형이 말을 걸어줬다는 기쁨도 잠시 체스는
말랑이의 말에 조금 머쓱한 기분을 느꼈다.

"그야.. 이 방에서 자지않으면 잠이 안오는걸.."

웅얼거리는 목소리로 말랑이의 말에 대답을 하던 체스는
허리를 숙여 책상밑에 다른 인형들과 책상위에있던 인형등을
끌어모아 품에 안았다.
 
"여기는 내 친구들이 가득하고 조용하고 평화로워.. 내 방에서 나가고싶지않아.
그래서 의자에서 자는것도 괜찮아! 너네만 있으면.."

He vigorously shook the jelly on both feet and said with concern.
The joy that his precious doll spoke to him while playing chess was brief, but he felt a little embarrassed by the words of Malang.

그렇게 말하는 체스는 품에 가득한 인형을 끌어안으며 진심으로
행복해보이는 미소를 지었다.

"그런가~ 체스. 너가 그렇다면 우리도 이 방이 좋아! 네가 좋아!"

이내 말랑이뿐만아니라 품에있던 인형들과 선반위, 방 구석구석 들어차있던
인형들 모두가 인사하듯 체스를향해 젤리가 보이는 팔을 뻗어보였다.
금새 방은 체스를향한 인형들의 애교석인 아우성으로 가득찼다.
모두가 체스를 좋아했고 체스도 모두를 좋아했다.

한 품에 다 안을수도 없는 인형들을 여러번 끌어안으며
체스는 꿈만같은 시간을 보냈다.
